My Baby is 5!!!!!

Banff, Canada

At the end of May, beginning of June, Kevin and I went with our YWAM leadership team to Banff, Canada for a conference. It was so refreshing and relaxing. God really met us there, as well as spoke to us about our future. Here are a few pics:

Spurgin/Burgess Visit

At the beginning of July, we had our pastor from Texas, his wife, and and couple from our New Hope Christian Church here visiting us. We had so much fun with them. They were such a blessing to us! We were able to spend time showing them around Homer and treating them to some awesome Alaskan food (i.e. moose, salmon, halibut, etc.). We love having visitors. Here are a few pics from the visit.

WOW! It's been a while.

I hadn't realized how long it has been since I have updated our blog. I have been doing some of the same stuff on Facebook and remembered that I need to check in here, too.

This summer has been really busy for us. I have been working with the Discipleship Training School (DTS) along with my normal administrative duties. Kevin has been teaching in the DTS, leading maintenance and we have both been on the leadership team. We have visitors during June and July. Cheyenne visited us in July. We loved our time with her and sure miss her now that she is not here. At the end of her trip, we went camping at Hidden Lake. It was an awesome time for all of us. Here are a few pics:

Cheyenne left us on June 30. Mema Carol came and visited us for two weeks. We really enjoyed our time with her as well. Pics on the next blog.

Land of the Midnight Sun

A few people have asked me what it looks like at night here in Alaska. I thought I would post a few pics for you to see. These pics were taken at midnight on 6/8. Redoubt is the volcano that has erupted a couple of times and Homer has been covered in ash two times.

Tonight, Sami graduated from pre-school! Isn't she cute??? We had a short ceremony and then a potluck. Can you believe that she will be a kindergarner next year??? I am having trouble believing it myself.

Worship Band

Today, Josh played drums with the youth worship band at church. Here is video. The quality is not the best, I had a hard time from my seat getting him in the picture. Hope you enjoy! I'm proud of my boy - doing what he loves.

I am sad to announce the passing of a good friend. Rod Wilson was the director of Native American Ministries for YWAM and a good friend of ours and our Base. He played a significant role in teaching us about Protocol and Spiritual Warfare. He served in Africa and the Pacific Islands, The University of The Nation in Kona, as well in North American among His own people. He will be missed greatly. Please keep his wife Alexis and his kids and grandkids in your prayers.

Readout - Volcano

Over the past few weeks, the volcano has erupted about 12 times. We have received some ash in Homer. I was away at a women's conference and ash was falling as the conference ended. Life is so much fun!

God's Faithfulness!

Kevin and I have been praying for a second vehicle for our family. We are so busy running up and down the roads, a second vehicle would make things a little less crazy. Yesterday, someone in town gave us a truck! Praise God!!!!

St. Lawrence Island

Our DTS team will be leaving on 4/5 for St. Lawrence Island. Please be praying for them. Also, please be praying for the people of island - that God would work in their lives. Thank you.

Eruption!!!!

Yes, the volcano erupted. Mt. Readout went off about 9:40 this morning. The ash cloud traveled our way and we received a light dusting here in Homer. Always exciting stuff for a Texan to experience in Alaska.


In this picture, you can actually see the ash falling. It moved into town and looked just like fog.
