Ice Races...

These past couple of months, we have been working at the ice races. They are on the frozen lake in town. Sami goes to the local Head Start program. We have been helping with a concession stand to raise money for Head Start. It has been lots of fun, the kids enjoy it, and we have raised alot of money for the program.

Winter Carnival

Last week, we had a winter carnival here in Homer. Sami's school - Homer Head Start - was involved in the parade. Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment.

Blizzard???

We woke up Saturday morning to a bunch of snow. Surprised? We do live in Alaska. Our son, went outside to shovel the porch - without even having to be told. Miracles do happen!

For Amanda's birthday - Lyla (at YWAM) made her birthday cake. It looked just like the Candyland boardgame. Check out the pics.

Toothless wonder!

Amanda lost her first tooth a couple of weeks ago. She was so proud! She was the only one at her school who had not lost a tooth - now, she fits right in. Since this picture, she has lost the other tooth on the bottom. She is diligent about messing with loose teeth until they fall out. She is like the Energizer bunny, she keeps wiggling and wiggling and wiggling.

It's been a while....

It has been a while since we last posted. We have been busy. Our First Nations DTS (Discipleship Training School) started on Jan 7. Kevin taught the second week of class on a culture of honor. He will be preaching in our church in two weeks. I will be teaching on forgiveness and God's love this week. I also spend lots of time running children here and there.

Sami has been going to preschool at the Head Start program. She is really enjoying it. We have spent several Sunday afternoons at the frozen lake working at the ice races. We have a little concession stand to help raise funds for the head start program. It has been fun, buy really cold!

Amanda turned 7 on Jan 8. She is loving the 1st grade. She is taking swimming lessons for the next two weeks and is taking piano lessons once a week.

Josh is participating in basketball at the high school. He has practice everyday. He is also taking drum lessons once a week.

Whew! Busy, busy, busy!

Starting 2009 out on the go!

Well, we are on the go again. Our First Nations DTS Starts tomorrow. We have been on the run getting everything ready. Please pray for us, as a base and the students.

Sherri and I have a few opportunities to go into a couple of new villiages in the next few months, as well as the Base Leadership conference in Banff, Alberta in May. Please keep us in your prays also..More to come as well as a newsletter soon. Love ya

Swimming....

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

We spent New Year's Eve at some friend's house. Just wanted to let everyone know that the temp there was 13 below zero! Whew, that's cold!

Christmas Visit!

Mom and Chey came to visit us for a week. Yesterday, we took them out to enjoy some cold and snow!

Sun.....Moon

The other day, while we were at Amanda's piano lessons at 3:15 in the afternoon we saw the sun and the moon in the sky. Check it out. The moon was in the northwest sky and the sun was in the southeast sky. Cool!

Ice Fishing

On Saturday, Kevin and Josh went ice fishing. It was really fun for them - it wasn't even that cold, they said.

Tonight, we were able to enjoy the fruits of their labor.

......even in the rain. My boy was out chipping away rust on our trailer. We had a trailer given to us, it just needs a little TLC. Thanks to a good friend.

Fire Safety and First Aid

We had a lot of fun Monday teaching Amanda's Home School Co-op Fire Safety and First Aid. You would be surprised at how much a young child can pick up.

Snow

This is what we woke up to this morning. The first of the season in town. They already have 6 inches up on the hill.

Gods Provision!

In January 2007, we drove our Suburban up to Alaska from Texas. Over the last year, it has gradually fallen apart. Reverse does not work in the Suburban. We have been so blessed by some friends of ours. They have graciously let us use their 3rd car for the last year. We have been praying and waiting for God to provide us with a new vehicle. Two weeks ago, we were able to purchase a 1997 Ford Expedition. It is in great shape and runs nice. We are so thankful for God's faithfulness and His provision.

The kids say it is the nicest car we have ever had.
